Im not sure this is appropriate for this group but ... Birds do nest in trees
and many of you do run into animal things on field trips so ... I found this
tiny nest, a small shallow 1/2 inch bowl with a 2 inch diameter. We have  
hummingbirds around so i assumed it was a hummer nest. When I showed it to
the ecologist here (he is a bird person) he said that humming birds use
lichens in their nests (this one had no lichens)  and for that reason  
didn't think it was.  My wife who is an EXPERT on everything said she was 
sure it was a hummingbird nest. Anyone have any ideas?
