I am looking for computer simulation programs to incorporate into
the lab of a Plant Physiology course that I teach in Argentina. In
particular, I am interested in simulations of photosynthesis and
water
relations. Ideally, the simulation whould allow students to
manipulate
physiological and environmental variables and see their effect on,
e.g.,
photosynthesis rate. Does anyone out there have experience with the
use
of computer simulations in teaching labs? Can anyone suggest a good
program ?

Juan, I have used a "Photosynthesis" and "Transpiration" simulation
authored by Dr. Gary Hannan of Eastern Michigan University, phone
313-487-9235 and e-mail: "bio_hannan at emu.edu" His simulations were
done in the 1980's and are Apple-compatible. At my last contact with
him, he had not chosen to develop a DOS-compatible version. Perhaps
a bit of encouragement from yourself and other subscribers would make
this possible. They are very good simulations, but we are down to
two "Apples" on our campus.
