Re the message from: Barry.Meatyard on inside out-flowers
I remember reading this too, so Warwickshire emanations are not
responsible. I don't have the details to hand, but the family is
monotypic, containing only one rare species, and from Mexico. It would be
interesting to do developmental studies on the vasculature and on organ
initiation, to see whether the stamens originate outside the carpels but
develop inside, or whether a homeotic replacement of stamens with carpels
(and vice versa) has occurred.
