FALL 1997
Eastern Connecticut State University is characterized by an innovative
undergraduate arts and sciences program, dynamic programs of professional
preparation and a commitment to experiential learning.
Eastern Faculty are expected to be outstanding teachers, to possess sensitivity
to a diverse student population and to demonstrate a commitment to creative
activity and scholarship, professional development and professional service.
The University serves 4,500 full and part-time students in a rural environment
east of Hartford and midway between New York City and Boston.
All faculty positions listed below are being searched for tenure track
placements, unless indicated otherwise, with rank and salary dependent on
qualifications. Excellent fringe benefits package available. Normal faculty
teaching load is twelve hours each semester (day and evening classes) along
with involvement in research and creative activity and service.
BIOLOGY DEPARTMENT:
CELL BIOLOGY/BIOCHEMISTRY. Assistant Professor. Ph.D. required, postdoctoral
training and expertise in plant, fungal or insect systems an advantage.
Demonstrated interest in undergraduate teaching essential. Duties include
teaching introductory and advanced courses to majors and non-majors, academic
advising, professional development, and working with the Physical Sciences
Department to establish a Biochemistry program. Information about the
