Do you use computers and/or the Internet in teaching plant biology courses?
Would you be willing to share your successes (and failures!) with
colleagues? The Botanical Society of America (and the Canadian Botanical
Society and other societies) will be meeting with the American Institute of
Biological Sciences August 3-7, 1997 in Montreal. I am organizing a
symposium designed to familiarize our colleagues with ways they can use
computer technology, World Wide Web, etc. to teach a wide array of biology
courses more effectively. In addition to 8-10 formal presentations there
is room for many more of us to share our ideas in an informal, hands-on
session that is part of the symposium. Again this year we will enjoy the
support of our corporate sponsor, Benjamin Cummings Publishers.
If you are willing to be considered for the formal OR informal (hands-on)
portions of the symposium OR BOTH, please send me, via e-mail, your name
and a brief description of what you would like to share (titles and
abstracts will be required later). Those who presented at last summer's
symposium in Seattle found it very helpful to meet the other presenters,
hear what they are doing, and share helpful suggestions.
