Good idea on the reading, Amy! There is no substitute for
background information in leading you to a project. If
you read about botany, you will begin to have some questions.
These questions can be answered by designing good experiments
in your project. While a lot of people could give you a
project to do, designing your own project is doing real science.
Moreover, answering the question that YOU ask will be far
more rewarding than trying to find an answer to a question
that you could care less about.

If, after reading, you find there is a question you'd like to
pursue, but need advice on some of the particulars of how
to set up your experiments, feel free to write again.
