Two possible texts are:
Seeds to Civilization: The Story of Food by
Charles B. Heiser, Jr. It is published by W.H. Freeman and Co. The
second edition that I use has a 1981 copyright date.
The Green World: An Introduction to Plants and People. by Richard M.
Klein. Harper & Row, Pub. 1979
I was introduced to these texts in a Plants and Civilization Course that
I took almost 10 years ago at Univ. of Maryland. Unfortunately the
instructor did not make tenure and has left for hopefully greener
pastures. The course was great. If I can find the syllabus I'll send
you a copy. I currently use both texts as supplemental reading in a
high school botany course that I have been teaching for 6 years.
