We have had success two ways (the first is faster): 1) remove a mature
plant from it's pot and subdivide the plant. You'll find there are
branches of the rhizome, probably with roots attached, that can be broken
off and potted as separate plants. 2) remove a mature leaf near its base
and pot it about 2 cm deep in a pot of rooting medium (we use 1 part
Pro-Mix: 1 part course sand: 1 part perlite). Be sure you don't let the
medium dry out. The succulent leaves of Aloe will remain alive for a long
time while roots are forming. Eventually you'll see a new sprout emerging
from the soil.
