As was pointed out a week or so ago, there are no text books that take the
macro-micro approach. From my informal score-keeping of people who have
replied on this subject, there does seem to be sufficiently strong
iinterest in macro -----> micro that a text should be developed for that.
Regardless of what we might think, students, I believe, get nervous over
starting in the back of a book and working forward.
I propose we use this marvelous electronic means of communicating with
plant biology educators around the world as a mechanism to conduct a survey
that could be presented to a publisher, encouraging that such a book be
written. Alternatively, I suppose we could produce a book on the WEB with
multiple authors, but I believe we are not ready to give up the printed
page yet. Nor am I in a position to write the book (maybe after I'm tossed
out of the dean's office back to where I belong ...)
Before I suggest that I collect 10 zillion e-mails (I would hope we would
get a response of significant size), I'm wondering if some of our more
technologically adept plant -eders (Ross or Jon or ?) might be able to
figure a way out to do this more efficiently.
Respones?
