As many of you may have suspected, I wasn't deluged with options. As a
matter of fact, I actually received more requests for the "answer" than I got
answers! Anyway, I promised to post a summary so here they are:
The Molecular Biology of the Cell (3rd edition, Garland Press)
Plant Cell Biology: Structure and Function (1996, Jones and Bartlet)*
Introduction to Cell and Molecular Biology (S. L. Wolfe)
Plant metabolism (D. H. Turpin et al., 2nd edition, Longman Press)
Plant Cell Structure and Metabolism (Hall, Flowers and Roberts, 2nd edition
1982)
* this is a good updated/expanded version of Gunning and Steer's 1975
excellent photograph booklet (with accompanying short text/figure legends)
that was sold as a paperback separate from the main text. However the authors
have not updated the main text (yet?).
