Hi!

I wrote an article about this in the American Biology
Teacher last year. The article is in color on my
website (URL below) by permission. I am preparing
another manuscript on this right now...this time a
positive one. (The ABT paper is a report on a failure
to show allelopathy!)

Try soaking 25-400 seeds of members of the Apiaceae
in 5 ml of water on filter paper in petri dishes.
After one day, remove the seeds and add 50 lettuce
seeds. Keep in dim light at room temperature for
two days. I think you will be happy with the results.

We have dissected the responses of several species
and are preparing to report on which of the essential
oil components are likely responsible for these results.
The student working with me is Steven Lamoureux.
