TRENT UNIVERSITY invites applications for a tenure-track position
in the Department of Biology at the rank of Assistant Professor to
start July 1, 1998. A completed Ph.D. is required. Preference
will be given to applicants with a strong commitment to and
interest in undergraduate teaching, combined with an active
research program. We are seeking a candidate specializing in plant
or animal population ecology with emphasis in mathematical ecology
and modelling, or plant systematics and evolution. Research
interests should complement those of existing faculty. The
successful applicant will have the opportunity to supervise
graduate students (M.Sc. or Ph.D.) within the interdisciplinary
Applications in Modelling or Watershed Ecosystems Graduate
Programs, and will be expected to apply for external funding
support for their research. Teaching duties will include
biogeography and/or conservation biology and participation in
introductory biology courses. This person will also be expected to
develop an upper-year half course in an area of specialization
beginning in the second year of the appointment. Trent is a small
liberal arts and sciences university located in the Kawartha Lakes
region of central Ontario. The salary scale for the floor of the
Assistant Professor rank is currently $42,025 per annum. Send
