The Biology Dept. at Eatern Michigan University is continuing its search
for an elementary science education faculty member. The position resides
within the Biology Department and one of the main responsibilities will be
to teach our elementary science education methods course (which includes
teaching "important biological concepts, especially relating to the
interrelationships of organisms within their environment; the investigative
or "discovery" approach; methodology involved in the new approaches to
teaching science"). The ideal candidate should have elementary teaching
experience, an earned doctorate (with strong background in biology), and
with an interest in establishing a research program. Applicants should
submit a letter of intent, a current CV, statements of research interests
and teaching philosophy, arrange to have three letters of recommendation
sent, and send transcripts (grad and undergrad; unofficial will be fine for

The combination of experience and training we seek appears to be very
difficult to find, so we may have to remain flexible in the exact
combination of teaching experience, etc. that we end up considering. If
