Ph.D. degree programs: molecular, cellular, or applied mycology

Fellowships and research assistantships are available for students
interested in obtaining their Ph.D. with a research specialization in
molecular, cellular, or applied mycology. Depending on the interests of
the student, degrees can be obtained through the Interdepartmental Program
in Genetics, the Interdepartmental Program in Microbiology, or the
Department of Plant Pathology. Research opportunities are available in a
number of areas including fungal genomics and molecular biology,
development and differentiation, plant-fungus interactions, biocontrol, and
epidemiology.
Applications are accepted throughout the year for admittance in Fall,
Winter, or Spring quarters. However, the deadline for consideration for
most forms of financial aid, including fellowship support, is February 1 so
applications before that date are strongly encouraged.
Riverside is located in southern California in the commercial, historical,
and cultural center of the "Inland Empire", a region containing nearly a
million inhabitants. We are located about 1-2 hours inland from San Diego
and Los Angeles and about 1 hour from the mountains. The climate is warm
and dry and suited to year-round outdoor activity.
