I don't know the specific composition of stayfresh, but several things are
used and you need to know for your particular species which works best.
Aspirin (salicylic acid) helps to prevent bacterial buildup and lowers
the pH, sugar supplies energy, but can cause greater bacterial growth.
Cutting the bottom of the stem off at an angle every day or so removes
bacteria and any wound tissue that might have built up.
