I think it is very disturbing considering that biology educators have
fought the creationist agenda for decades as the recent series of
articles in American Biology Teacher have detailed. I would like to know
how the creationists got a majority on the Kansas Board of Education?
Are the board members elected or appointed, and don't they need to have
some credentials in education?
The political discussion show "Inside Washington" considered the issue
yesterday and harshly criticized the decision. I'm sorry I didn't tape
it so I could remember some of their comments.
There does not seem to be any reason why God could not have used
evolution as a mechanism to assure the "survival of the fittest." The
fact of evolution does not mean that God did not create everything. If
you view photosynthesis as God's mechanism to provide energy to
biological organisms then why can't evolution be viewed as God's
mechanism too?
