The book "Great Scientists Speak Again" (1982, Univ. Calif. Press,
Berkeley) by Zoology professor Richard M. Eakin describes how he dressed
as six famous scientists for "guest lectures" in his general biology
course at Berkeley. He dressed as both Darwin and Mendel. The book has
photographs of him in costume and his lectures. Some of his lectures in
costume were filmed and excerpts made available through Berkeley. He got
a great reception including an NSF grant, publicity in Life magazine,
and more invitations for guest lectures than he could accept.
