Hi!
A graduate student of mine (Helen Guiragossian Kiss)
determined that meiosis in anthers of Ipomoea nil
(morning glory) cv. 'Scarlett O'Hara' is comlete
well in advance of flower opening. If your buds are
1-2 cm in length, then the anther side is probably
close to finishing if not finished. I do not know
the timing of meiosis in the ovule. In some angiosperms
it is known that ovule meiosis lags behind anther
meiosis.
Many flowers develop fully with defective meiosis.
Triploid flowers, for example, are usually sterile
and yet have nice flowers (visually!).
I'm not sure what your acronym THT means...it isn't
one I'm used to, so maybe you could tell the group
more about it.
