The Department of Biological Sciences, University of South Alabama seeks 
applications for two tenure-track Assistant Professorships.

Candidates must have a Ph.D., a strong commitment to teaching at the
undergraduate level, and a plan to develop an active research program.
Postdoctoral experience is preferred.

Geneticist:

One position is for a Geneticist, whose research involves an environmental
focus. Duties are to teach Genetics from molecular to population levels at
the undergraduate and graduate level, participate in the introductory
Biology program, and supervise graduate and undergraduate research. Send

Mycologist or Phycologist:

The other position is for a Mycologist or Phycologist, whose research
involves a broad approach ranging from the cellular to the environmental
levels. Duties will include classes in non-vascular plants and mycology,
participation in the introductory Biology program, and supervision of
graduate and undergraduate research. Send curriculum vitae, statement of

The Department of Biological Sciences has 13 full-time faculty and modern
facilities. The department has a Master's program. USA has 12,000 students,
8 colleges, many M.S. programs, 5 Ph.D. programs, and includes a
comprehensive medical center. The location is a wooded campus in a mild Gulf
Coast environment, including nearby extensive, pristine freshwater habitats
of the Mobile Delta, as well as estuarine and marine locales.
