seed scarification

Hello there -

When studying seed germination, is it the general rule that one end of the
seed, if its end is cut off/nicked/scarified, will give rise to a radicle
more often than the opposite end? Are such data publishable? Any good web
resources on this topic?

Thank you. Please respond privately or to the list.
