Leaves can be kept pliable if soaked for a time in glycerin which you can

ecommends a 1:1 solution of water and glycerin. Instructions for
preserving leaves by pressing, drying in silica gel, and soaking in

and calls for a 2:1 mixture of water and glycerin.
