Expts with different colors of light

Sigma sells tinted "phytatrays" (p 2355 of the '00-'01 catalog) that 
are either clear, blue, red or yellow (see the catalog for wavelength 
cutoffs).  At about 4" cubed they would work for small plants and at 
about $1 each they are affordable.  Sigma cites Hangarter et al. 
(1991), Repression of plant tissue culture growth by light is caused 
by photochemical change in the culture medium. Plant Sci. 79:253-257. 
Has anyone tried using them for soil-grown plants?
