seed germination

  I have germinated avacado many times.  They take several months to
germinate, so don't give up on them.  I just throw them onto the soil in
my garden room, so you should be able to germinate them in a LARGE pot
where you keep the soil moist.  My garden room gets watered daily.  The
root is a long tap root, hence the need for a large pot.
