BIOLOGY
The Department of Biology at Grinnell College invites applications
for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level to begin
in fall 2001. Appointment at a higher rank may be considered for
suitably qualified applicants. This search is part of a new Grinnell
College initiative to increase faculty diversity while strengthening
the academic program. Grinnell College is committed to increasing
faculty diversity, recognizing that to provide a diverse learning
environment is to prepare students for personal and professional
success in an increasingly global, multicultural society. In their
letters of application, candidates should address their interest in
developing as a teacher and scholar in an undergraduate liberal arts
environment that emphasizes close student-faculty interaction and
values diversity. Teaching responsibilities include courses at both
the introductory and intermediate level, as well as an advanced
course in the candidate's area of specialty. We are seeking
candidates whose research program uses eukaryotic organisms to
address questions at the molecular, cellular and/or organismal level.
Candidates should have post-doctoral research experience and be
prepared to conduct an active research program involving
undergraduates. Start-up funds, support for student-faculty
research, and excellent facilities are available. Send letter of
