Dear Fellow Tree-huggers, I am embarking on a project to label all the
trees on
campus with Latin names, common names, family names, and relevant
campus
information like "gift of class of 1902."
Scott, at Cedarville University, we have campus trees labeled with
small, round aluminum tags attached by wire to young trees or limbs,
and by screws (which can be "backed out" of the wood as the trunk
grows. Each number is entered into a Microsoft Access database along
with pertinent data as you mention. We enlist an aspiring botany
student to work with grounds to keep up the program outdoors and at
the computer.
Good to interact with you this summer at PKAL--Plant Biology.
