What should be in an introductory botany course? I ask this becuase the
university where I attend, both undergraduate and graduate courses, and
from where I got my biology degree (botany emphasis) has no "introductory
botany" course. The first plant course listed is BIO 303, Plants and
Fungi, is a morphology course; and the second listed is BIO 333,
Systematic Botany; and the third course is BIO 403, Plant Structure and
Function, an anatomy and physiology course, which is taught once a year
and has an enrollment of 10-15, compared with around 40 to 50 in the
morphology and systematic botany courses. There is also a graduate
course, BIO 573, called Plants of the Great Lakes Region, which is an
advanced taxonomy course as well as a plant ecology course.
So wgat should be in a intro botany course?
