best gel imaging system

I am on the lookout for a Gel Imaging System and want the most versatile
(and dependable) system I can find that can do DNA gels, as well as
Blots, and bacterial plates.

I am thinking of the KODAK EDAS 290 system.....

Does anyone especially like that system, or suggest a better
alternative?
