jim & other plant-ed folks.
i'm sorry to say that we no longer have a general botany course, but we
have a learning community set up with some of our non-majors biology
courses. we're just starting and not well coordinated between the two
courses, which vary among a variety of english/writing courses and gen
ed type courses. my class has taken a field trip to our local 'greenway'
right around the time we were talking about reproduction - and plants
were still in flower. i think the trip may have stimulated some
additional interest. both instructors went on the trip. we're hoping to
do another to a nearby nature area. mostly the university folks are
pushing our joint participation in sports events (i haven't done that
yet). hopefully in the next semesters, we will begin to orient our
academic program towards exploiting the connection between classes.
