In the past I used the dwarf rosette variety to determine the levels of
gibberelic acid in Wild Type Rapid Cycling Brassicas.
This was an experiment set to post 16 students as coursework.
They grew both types of RcBr and after 5 days adminstered a drop
(measurable if a 1ml syringe is used ) of gibberellic acid per day at
concentrations from 0-200ppm, in 25
ppm jumps. The drop was applied to the apex of the plants daily for 10
days.
The height of the plants was recorded daily and some interesting
results were obtained that suggested a dose of 50ppm resulted in plants
of a similar height to wild types grown alonside.
