Dear Plant Ed Folks,
I have been sent three suggestions for aerotactic bacteria to try with
the
Engelmann experiment.
1. From Dr. Gerald Schoenknecht: "Pseudomonas aeruginosa in its
logarithmic growth phase."
2. From Dr. Cindy Graham: " ...try Pseudomonas putida which is strongly
aerotactic. Other Pseudomonas species are pathogenic to humans but this
one
is not."
3. Lee Hadden suggested collecting pond water from where Spirogyra is
growing, and culturing that.

Thanks again to everyone who responded!
Kathleen
