I will be teaching our major's botany class for the first time in over 12 years. The class is part of a series and covers diversity ( photosynthetic protists, fungi, plants), plant anatomy and physiology and also ecology.
As I am starting to prepare my lectures, I wanted to organize the material around fundamental themes and issues in plant biology. I'd like to tap into the wisdom of this group and ask what people consider to be the most important principles or organizing themes for an introduction to plant biology? ( Of course, evolution and adaptation is the most important organizing principle for any biology class.)
Thanks for the help
