Several book scanning projects provide online copies of old botany
books including Missouri Botanic Garden, Cornell Libraries and Google
Books.

1. The Rare Books from the Missouri Botanical Garden Library
http://www.illustratedgarden.org/mobot/rarebooks/browse.asp

Has several dozen mainly taxonomic botany books, many with spectacular
color plates and two classic treatises on plant anatomy and plant
physiology,

Nehemiah Grew 1682. The Anatomy of Plants.
Stephen Hales 1727. Vegetable Staticks.

2. The Core Historical Literature of Agriculture
http://chla.mannlib.cornell.edu/

Contains over 1,800 agricultural and botany books from 1800 to 1979. A
few examples,

Alfred Rehder 1927. Manual of Cultivated Trees and Shrubs Hardy in
North America
Ellison Hawks 1928. Pioneers of Plant Study
Edward Irving Farrington 1931. Ernest H. Wilson; Plant Hunter

4. Books.google.com has several dozen old botany books but they are not
listed together as for the first two collections. I searched using the
terms plant, flora, tree, botany, plant physiology, plant anatomy,
horticulture and found many dozen books. Some might be of interest to
botany teachers or students, especially the first three. A sampling is
listed below:

Theophrastus Enquiry Into Plants (1916 translation by Arthur Hort)
Nathaniel Bagshaw Ward 1842. On the Growth of Plants in Closely Glazed
Cases
William Francis Ganong 1910. The Teaching Botanist: A Manual of
Information Upon Botanical Instruction
Thomas Nuttall 1827. An Introduction to Systematic and Physiological
Botany
John Lindley 1832. An Introduction to Botany
Asa Gray 1857. First Lessons in Botany and Vegetable Physiology
Asa Gray 1880. Gray's Lessons in Botany and Vegetable Physiology:
Charles Edwin Bessey 1881. Botany for High Schools and Colleges
