     Do you have a greek etymology for anco- in ancophyte?
     
   By Googling   Greek anco   we get anco-, anc-:
   
    (Greek: ankos: 1. A bend or hollow, an angle. 2. A valley; also a crag.)
    
   ..which is very apt for a "canyon plant."
