Dr. Tennessen,

I am a home gardener who starts his tomato plants in the winter. I read your article, Efficiency of photosynthesis in continuous and pulsed light emitting diode
Irradiation. No doubt there is new information since this was published. I would like to build my own LED source for tomatoes. Could you please answer a few questions? I'll list them in a column, so you can respond easily.

What is the best frequency(ies) to promote tomato germination and growth?

Is there any growth advantage to pulsing my LED light?

If there is an advantage, what frequency and duty cycle works best?

Should the light be on all the time or should there be a darkness period? How long?

There are a million other questions I would love to ask you, but an answer to the few above will allow me to build my grow light in time for the spring garden.

Thanks again for you support.
