Linda:
The best broad spectrum anti-tubulin that we've used is the rat mc-
antitubulin of John Kilmartin (JCB 93:576); it works on the ciliates 
we've tried. Also, Andre Adoutte made a rabbit polyclonal against 
paramecium tubulin that works well on ciliates, of course, and I 
have a small amount of it.
You may also want to try our backscatter EM method for examining MTs 
under the surface of cells (JEM Tech 5:263).
