Second World Meeting on Salivarian Trypanosomes

The current and global reduction of financial aid for research is one
of the most important problems for scientists around the world. On the
other hand, the modern tools for communications such as fax, e-mail
and the virtual world offered by Internet are available for many
researchers. Using these new and fast ways of communications,
principally e-mail and Internet, researchers interested in attending
some Meeting/Worshop/Congress may be able to participate in any
virtual event.
Several Virtual Meetings have been occurred during the recent months.
Its practical use and minimal expenses offered are the principal bases
for considering them as the NEW and VERY ECONOMIC option for research
discussion now, and for the future.
The First World Meeting on Salivarian Trypanosomes by Internet (FWMST
1996, December, 9-14) had TRYPLINK-L as the virtual headquarters for
presenting and discussing lectures on several issues regarding
Trypanosomosis caused by salivarian trypanosomes. The Proceedings of
the FWMST are being published by the FAO. This has been possible due
the valuable help of Dr. Brian Hursey and his colleagues at FAO.
