Dear collegues,
our cultures of Dunaliella salina are contaminated by a dinoflagellate
which was identified as Oxyrrhis. This organism seems to be extremely
resistent to high salt conditions as well as to destilled water, heating
and drying. Since the dinoflagellate apparently feeds on Dunaliella, and
thus destroys our cultures very quickly, we are interested in some
information about this organism (life cycle etc.). Does anyone has an
idea how to clean the cultures?
thank you in advance
best regards
Maria Mulisch
