Haven't done this kind of thing in years, but I once cleaned a culture by
diluting heavily and streaking onto salt-water agar, about 1.25%. Then
picking colonies and transferring back to liquid medium. The real trick
lies in the agar density. Too low and the cells will be able to travel
across the surface; too high and there is a risk of dessication.
