Hi Nick, I have studied protistan movement to a considerable degree while I
was an undergraduate and grad student. My advice depends on what organisms
you are interested in learning about. For example in regard to ciliates and
flagellates, I would recommend that you look into the papers by Theodore L.
Jahn in the mid 60s to mid 70s. Also Charles Brokaw at CalTech has written on
this subject. You can also check into a very good book by Bloodgood
...Ciliary and Flagellar Membranes...this has a lot on protistan motility. I
think Comparative Protozoology by O.R. Andersen has information in this area
as well. For amoeboid motion, the work of E.C. Bovee, T. L. Jahn, R. D.
Allen are all relevant. These are just a few suggestions off the top of my
head.....I could be more help if you can become more specific. Good
