To those planning to attend the SOP and IWOP meetings in North Carolina
later this month (May), as well as those interested in supporting the
activities of the SOP:
>	This year the SOP will be starting a new tradition: a Society auction, to
be held during the SOP Annual Meeting in North Carolina. We encourage you
to donate something for this exciting new event, which will help raise
money for future Society activities. Donations of weeks at condos or
cottages, protozoology memorabilia (photos, signatures (hey John Corliss,
how about signing a few old cravats for us!), books, reprints, etc),
antiques, artwork, services, oddities and sundries are all welcome! You
will receive a receipt for your donation, for tax purposes, and you will be
helping a worthy society in its educational mission.
>	Please bring your item to the meeting, unless it is too heavy to
transport (in which case a picture might be helpful) or you do not expect
to attend. We would appreciate it if you could e-mail one of us ahead of
time to indicate what you will bring, so we can begin to put together an
auction list. If you are sending a picture, or the item itself, please
send to the chair of the local arrangements committee in North Carolina, as
soon as possible:
Dr. John Roberts
Department of Zoology
Box 7617
North Carolina State University
Raleigh, NC 27695
The major part of the auction will probably be silent, but if we have
some unusual and exciting items, we may also hold a live auction at a time
to be determined later.
>	So please consider the fun that this auction will generate as well as the
money it will raise, and contribute something to our exciting new annual
meeting event!
>	Sincerely, Linda Hufnagel (lhufnagel at uri.edu) and Robert Zackroff
(rzackroff at mcp.edu)
