PDF Molecular Biologist/Geneticist/Parasitologist
We seek a postdoctoral fellow or a very experienced
research assistant/technician to join a group investigating
the genetics of parasites in the Department of Microbiology and
Parasitology and the new Institute of Molecular Bioscience at The
University of Queensland. The University is one of Australia's
largest universities with 23,000 undergraduate students and 6,000
postgraduates. It is ranked in the top 5 nationally for both
industry-funded research and all
competitive research funding.
The successful applicant will study enigmatic
dinoflagellate-like organisms (Perkinsidae) that are major pathogens
of marine
molluscs.
Experience in PCR, sequencing and cloning are highly desirable.
Interstate travel may be required. The project is funded by the
Australian Fisheries Research & Development Corporation in
collaboration with abalone divers of South Australia.
Appointment initially for 1 year, with the
possibility of renewal for a further 2 years. Postdoctoral fellow
