Subject: Postdoctoral position: Phytophthora genomics
(I apologize if you receive this email more than once).
I would be grateful if you brought this to the attention of relevant
individuals:
POSTDOCTORAL POSITION AVAILABLE: Functional
genomics/molecular
genetics of Phytophthora infestans
1-2 postdoctoral associates are sought to study Phytophthora
infestans, the oomycete (fungal-like organism) that causes the late
blight diseases of potato and tomato.
The successful applicants will join projects aimed at identifying and
characterizing genes important in plant infection and sporulation. The
work will involve constructing cDNA libraries; identifying genes of
interest from an EST catalogue; and characterizing gene regulation and
function by manipulating their expression in transformants of P.
infestans. This is an excellent opportunity to gain additional
experience in molecular biology and bioinformatics, while working on
one of the world's most important plant pathogens.
Multiyear funding is available (2-3 years). Additional information
about the laboratory and department is available at:
http://cnas.ucr.edu/~ppath/faculty/hj.html.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in a relevant discipline and skill in
molecular biology. A command of written and spoken English is
required. Experience with filamentous fungi is not required, and
scientists with training in other systems (plants, etc.) are welcome
to apply.
Contact information for applications and questions is listed below. To
apply, send a curriculum vitae and the names of three references
(including addresses and telephone numbers) Please label email
attachments with your last name!
