Canadian Institute for Advanced Research Faculty position in
Eukaryotic Microbial Biodiversity.
The Departments of Botany and Zoology invite applications for a
tenure-track faculty position at the level of Assistant Professor in
Eukaryotic Microbial Biodiversity. The position is linked a Scholar
appointment in the Evolutionary Biology Program of the Canadian
Institute for Advanced Research (CAIR) and candidates must meet
the
criteria of excellence in research for appointment to the program.
The
CIAR involvement will carry with it some teaching relief for the
duration of the CIAR appointment and the opportunity to interact with
an international network of researchers in evolutionary biology. The
successful candidate must work with eukaryotic micro-organisms
(protists, algae, and fungi), and have demonstrated excellence in
research in the evolution of major eukaryotic lineages or the
discovery and characterisation of new eukaryotic micro-organisms that
shed light on eukaryotic evolution, using modern techniques and
approaches. Candidates should have a PhD in a relevant discipline and
postdoctoral experience. Salary and startup funds will be negotiated,
and applicants will be eligible for considerable infrastructural
support through the Canada Foundation for Innovation. All qualified
candidates are encouraged to apply, however Canadians and permanent
residents of Canada will be given priority. Applications will be
reviewed beginning July 1, 2002, and will continue until a suitable
