Every year, the French CNRS (Centre National de la Recherche
Scientific) is offering permanent research position (life long, civil
servant position). This year there is a Charg=E9 de Recherche de
Premi=E8re Classe (CR1) position in the field of Phytoplankton
Taxonomy
(Section 30) with emphasis on species involved in Biogeochemical
Cycling. This position is to be filled in one of the French marine
laboratory depending on the Earth Science division of CNRS (e.g.,
Roscoff, Brest, Banyuls, Marseille, Villefranche....).
CR1 positions are highly competitive and require to have obtained a
PhD and to have published at least 10 scientific papers in good
ranking journals. Selection is based on a detailed application
including past research achievements and a medium term work program
and on an interview by a panel.
Deadline for application is January 15, 2003. Panel interviews are
scheduled in May 2003.

N=B0 30/03 :
Descriptif du poste : Les recherches entreprises aideront
=E0 comprendre la structure fonctionnelle des peuplements
phytoplanctoniques dans le cadre de l'=E9tude des grands
cycles biog=E9ochimiques de l'oc=E9an. Le chercheur recrut=E9
travaillera sur la taxinomie du phytoplancton marin afin
de caract=E9riser les communaut=E9s. Outre les techniques et
concepts de la syst=E9matique moderne qu'il devra ma=EEtriser,
le candidat devra d=E9velopper une approche observationnelle
s'appuyant sur les bases documentaires de la taxinomie
ph=E9notypique. Affectation : dans un laboratoire relevant
