Post Doctoral Associate Position
Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences seeks a post-doctoral
associate
to study the systematics of Ochromonas and its relatives
(Chrysophyceae). Ochromonas appears to be a polyphyletic
genus, and
the investigation will involve phylogenetic analysis using gene
sequences and ultrastructure. Experience in molecular
systematics or
ultrastructure is required. This is a two-year position funded by the
National Science Foundation. Please send a current C.V., the
names and
contact information for three references and reprints to: Robert A.
Andersen, Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences, 180 McKown Point
Road, P.O. Box 475, West Boothbay Harbor, ME 04575 USA, or via e-mail

Post Doctoral Associate Position
Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences seeks a post-doctoral associate
to study silicon and calcium nanofabrication in algae. Applicants
should have a Ph.D. with emphasis in molecular biology. The project
involves construction of cDNA libraries for a silica-scaled
synurophyte and a coccolith-producing haptophyte as part of the effort
to further understanding of the biochemical pathways associated with
algal mineralization. This is a two-year position funded by NASA.
