Academic Search International Ltd has been retained by Massey
University
in New Zealand to assist in their search to appoint a new Head of its
Institute of Molecular BioSciences.

We would like to alert you to this opportunity and invite you to
consider whether you may have some personal interest in the position.
Alternatively, we would very much appreciate any recommendations
you
might wish to make as to other suitable individuals.

The Headship is a prestigious appointment at Massey University. The
appointee will lead the academic staff of the Institute of Molecular
BioSciences, one of eight Institutes within the College of Sciences.
The Institute encompasses the disciplines of Molecular Biology, Cell
Biology, Biochemistry, Plant Biology, Genetics, Microbiology,
Molecular Ecology and Evolution, and Bioinformatics. The Institute is
highly research active and hosts the Allan Wilson Centre for Molecular
Ecology and Evolution (one of just five foundation Centres of
Excellence in New Zealand), a Centre for Functional Genomics, a
Centre
for Structural Biology (jointly with the Institute of Fundamental
Sciences) and a Protozoa Research Unit.

The appointee will provide strategic leadership within the Institute
and promote excellence in teaching, research and service to the wider
community. The Institute is seeking to broaden its academic and
research profile, enhance existing activity and develop new cross
disciplinary, collaborative projects. The Headship offers the
successful applicant the opportunity to continue research in his or
her own areas of expertise and to champion the promotion of
Molecular
BioSciences education and research in New Zealand and
internationally.

Candidates must have a PhD or equivalent in a relevant field, an
accomplished record of research and scholarly achievement in an
academic
discipline appropriate to the Institute and a demonstrated ability for
strategic leadership and management.

Massey University is one of New Zealand's leading educational
institutions and boasts a proud 70-year tradition of academic
excellence
and a strong national and international reputation. Massey's
attractive
Palmerston North campus is located centrally in the lower North
Island,
a convenient two hours' drive from the capital city of Wellington, a
similar distance from vineyards and beaches in Hawke's Bay and
snow
covered ski slopes on Mount Ruapehu.

Should you have an interest in this opportunity and wish to receive
further information, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Alternatively, we would be most grateful to hear of any
recommendations you might have as to potential candidates.

Kind regards

Helen Cox
