I am a novice in amoebal culture, trying to grow Acanthamoeba
astronyxis ATCC 30137 in ATCC medium 712 (PYG medium) using
tissue
culture flasks at 30C without shaking. The rate of growth seems
very
very slow. Can someone recommend a fast growing
Acanthamoeba strain
of any species that I may obtain from ATCC to compare its growth
rate
to the astronyxis I have. Any other recommendations on liquid or
plate culture would be most appreciated.
