these are the stages that our users go through to get a sequence from ABI
to staden.
makeSCF - Converts trace data to compressed format (reduces it to 30% of it's
original size).
ted - Trace editor. Allows you to remove poor quality data from either end
of your sequence.
vep - Vector excision program - remove vector sequence.
xbap - The main staden sequence assembly program
