We are in the final process of preparing an animal care committee
approval. Our problem is that even though we began this last December
we have been going through multiple rounds because our animal care
committee is rather obviously oriented for mammal work. In order to avoid
losing two separate BSc Med grants and leaving two student without summer
research jobs we need the following and very quickly. Any and all peer
reviewed and published references would be deeply appreciated.
1) A reference as to why axolotls do not require analgesics during limb
regeneration.
2) A reference explaining why axolotls do not require post surgical
(simple limb amputation) analgesics except for being immersed in cold water.
3) A reference explaining axolotl psychology and how to provide and
enriched and stimulating environment for them from a psychological
perspective.
We must have these references by tomorrow or our summer work will not
occur. (Also you cannot refer them to my own publications.)
