A researcher has asked us about early oogenesis. Here is the relevant
text of her message to us. Does anyone have any comments or insite?

In Xenopus all stages of oocytes are also present in the ovary of adult
female. However the physiological state of stage 1 (pre-vitellogenic)
oocytes in adult ovary is not very good. This is why when I need a source
of healthy stage 1 oocytes I use 4 cm froglets which have ovaries where
all oocytes are in stage1 or early 2. My guess is that similar
situation is also true for an axolotl. Can you tell me what stage or size
of axolotl would have ovaries with the early previtellogenic oocytes only?

What is the youngest size/age where we can find early stage oocytes. Are
there any references where I can find information about the stages of
oogenesis in axolotls?
